Take Off

Time: the present. At a lavish party hosted by an unknown host, a young lady, Linda, meets a handsome Texan and tries to find out who and where the mysterious host is. As they explore the house, they come across a room that unexpectedly turns into a projection room. The film the two guests watch is a very old bachelor role of a very old man seducing a middle-aged woman. Later Linda meets the mysterious host Darrin Blue next to the pool. Through a series of flashbacks, Darrin explains that the old man in the film is actually himself. TAKE OFF is a delightful update of the Oscar Wilde idea of a man who never ages; but in this case his image ages instead on 8mm film. But TAKE OFF is also a literal leap into the films of the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Darrin Blue actually becomes some of our favorite characters from movies we all remember from those periods.
